DATE AND LOCATION


The XXXIV World Congress of Vine and Wine and the 9th General Assembly of OIV will be held between the 20th and 27th June 2011, at the Alfândega Congress and Exhibition Centre, in Porto, where all the conferences and technical meetings shall take place.

The Alfândega Congress and Exhibition Centre is situated at a unique and privileged location in the Historic Centre of Porto, in a singular building recovered by Architect Souto Moura, and has 22 multipurpose rooms, a cultural environment, a docking bay, rooms with interpretation booths, and a parking lot with 250 spaces.

 

The gala dinner will take place in the Hall of Nations at Palácio da Bolsa (Stock Exchange Palace) considered one of the most beautiful buildings in the city of Porto and one of the most opulent in Portugal. It is one of the halls that has seen the most relevant social, political and cultural events related to the life of the city.



This building, which began construction in October 1842, possesses a combination of architectural styles, with traces of the 19th Century Neoclassical architecture, Tuscan architecture, as well as English Neo-palladian architecture.

Some of the most important individuals in the international viticultural panorama will attend this event, as well as many other renowned individuals who shall be present due to the inclusion of new themes in the programme, such as wine-related Architecture, Land Studies and Sociology.
